In addition to his leadership with RICO Reach, Jay serves as the Chief Community Development and Reentry Officer for the Pittsburgh Street Team, where he brings his extensive expertise on the ground to foster safety, healing, and structural advancement.

Core Areas of Expertise
Community Development: Designing and implementing neighborhood-level programs that foster sustainable growth and collective resilience.
Reentry Services: Providing critical pathways, advocacy, and transitional support for individuals returning to society from the justice system.
Workforce Development: Creating economic opportunities, skills training, and employment pipelines to secure long-term stability.

Rather than relying solely on reactive measures, Jay's approach focuses on preemptive outreach, youth engagement, and building trust across generations.
Fostering Safe Spaces: His work involves collaborating with local entities to establish constructive alternatives, redirecting peer energy, and establishing safe zones for youth activity.
Bridging Neighborhoods: By leveraging his outreach frameworks, the team works to defuse tensions before they escalate, ensuring that public spaces remain secure and accessible for all residents.

Jay Akers is an invaluable asset to the Pittsburgh Street Team because he combines strategic vision with boots-on-the-ground execution.
